GSuite for Education

Posted on: January 17, 2017

GSuite for Education (an educational service within the Google company) has been adopted by the Franklin City Schools (FCS) Board of Education for instructional use within the classroom. GSuite offers a wealth of free applications that are covered under the FCS Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) that all parents and/or guardians sign at the beginning of each school year. Some of these applications include Google Docs, Drive, Sheets, Slides, and Forms. After the start of the school year, Google changed its service agreement to where additional permissions were required for some of the key services our teachers utilize for instruction. These primary services requiring additional permissions include YouTube, Blogger, and Google Maps, and several others. All of the services are filtered appropriately for students. We will be changing our AUP to reflect these changes at the start of next school year; however, teachers will remain using the above services in their instruction. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the technology department at 937-743-8643 or
techdept@franklincityschools.com. A list of all these additional service can be found on the FCS website in the Technology Department section.
