Gerke Principal

Dear Students, Parents, and Guardians,

Welcome to the most unique school year we are ever about to experience! A lot of thought and planning has gone into this school year. All of our district plans have been made in conjunction with the Warren County Health Department and have been approved. Dr. Sander, our Superintendent, has been working with the Warren County Health Department as well as the other Warren County Superintendents.

Some of the main changes that we will implement this year include student arrival and dismissal procedures. The following map shows the drop-off and pick-up patterns this year. Our students will be coming in the same doors that they go out when they leave every day. (This is a change from last year when they entered through the middle doors). We are trying a new process for the parking lot as well. Staff members will park in the front center lot as we will use the “traditional” staff parking lot for arrival/dismissal of 3rd-6th graders. During arrival and dismissal, parents with 1st and 2nd graders will use the entrance on the right to pick up their child. If you have a child in an older grade as well, they will need to meet you in the 1st and 2nd grade car line. (In order to help balance lines, we are asking parents with siblings in both hallways to use the primary car line). Parents of 3rd-6th graders will use the entrance on the far left. Please pull forward if you are one of the first cars to arrive so others can pull up behind you. You cannot park in the side lot during arrival and dismissal due to the traffic pattern that will be going through there.

Students will enter the building beginning at 8:10 a.m.

Dismissal Times:
3:15 p.m.- Students with last names beginning with A-K
3:16 p.m.- Students with last names beginning with L-Z
3:20 p.m.- Walkers

Another change for this year is student breakfast and lunch. Students will be eating in their classrooms. Fewer students will visit restrooms etc. at a time. Class switches will be minimalized as well.

Our staff has been working hard to create an atmosphere that is safe and inviting for our students. We are anxious and excited to have our students back in the building! Please call us if you have any questions.
