Principal's Message

Gerke Principal

Dear Gerke Families,

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! I am honored to be serving the Franklin Community as the Principal of Gerke Elementary.

For the past 15 years I have been working with the Vandalia-Butler City School District as first a teacher and then an administrator. The majority of my experience has been at the elementary level because I feel it is so important to get kids off to a great start. I am excited to be a Wildcat and help your child learn and grow!

Student arrival and dismissal will work much the same as last year with a few minor changes (see the map below).

Arrival:

Students in grades K-1 along with their older siblings need to be dropped off at the South side of the building. Students in grades 2-6 need to be dropped off using the North parking lot.  Students can arrive at 8:10 a.m. and all students will enter through the middle doors and go directly to the gym to receive breakfast or sit with their class.

Dismissal:

All students will be dismissed at 3:15 p.m. K-1 students will exit the building using the South doors along with their older siblings. Students in grades 2-6 will exit the building using the North doors. Please make sure to pull forward if you are one of the first cars in line so others can pull up behind you. You cannot park in the North parking lot during arrival and dismissal times.

On behalf of the staff of Gerke Elementary, we are looking forward to a great school year!

Sincerely,

Joshua Pohl
