Students inducted into Franklin High School's French Honor Society

Twenty-five Franklin High School students were recently inducted into the FHS chapter of the French National Honor Society. The Société Honoraire de Français is an organization run by the AATF (American Association of Teachers of French.) The FHS chapter was formed during the last school year; this was the second group inducted.

Membership requirements are completion of two full years of French with a grade of A- or better; a minimum 3.0 GPA in all other coursework (excluding French grades); and completion of at least one full semester at FHS (transfer students). Membership is by invitation only.

Holly Crosley, chapter advisor, said the group is in its second year, and is continuing to expand its fundraisers and activities including possibly starting a tutoring service for underclassmen struggling with learning French. One recent activity was treating the FHS staff to croque monsieurs (a baked or fried boiled ham and cheese sandwich) in honor of French Week.

She noted that fundraising will provide monies for a scholarship or scholarships for those traveling abroad, and that a $1000 scholarship (provided by a donor) will be available for a senior.
