FHS Parent and Family Update for 9/6/21

Posted on: September 3, 2021 12:00 pm
Happy Friday!
Here is the latest edition of the FHS Parent and Family Weekly Update.

Starting Tuesday 9/7 FHS becomes FHS/FJHS serving grades 7-12 on the same campus.  We have logistical issues we have anticipated and addressed, but we know there will be issues we have not anticipated.  We ask in advance for your patience as we work to address the opportunities and challenges of adding two more grade levels of student and staff on site.

Arrival and Dismissal: Two areas we already know will be challenges are arrival and dismissal.  In an effort to spread out traffic, students will be permitted to enter the building at 7am starting Tuesday 9/7/21.  They must report to the cafeteria, and can then go onto their classes starting at 7:15am. In addition, to help everyone understand drop off and pick up procedures, Mr. Wysong has created a Parking Lot Procedures video.  Please take the time to watch this video so you are prepared for Tuesday. Info on STUDENT PICK-UP AND DROP-OFF PARKING from SRO Officer Myers

FHS/FJHS PARENTS:

As many of you are seeing this year, we have implemented new "NO PARKING ZONES" on Fourth Street near the High School.  These areas were decided on specifically for student safety.  Although we understand each family's frustrations, we have determined the following changes were necessary based on the increased number of students who will be attending school on this campus.  The changes are as follows:

  1.  NO PARKING on either side of the street ON OR BEFORE THE CROSSWALK.  The roadway is marked, as well as no parking signs being put in place.

  2.  NO PARKING anywhere on the street where the curb has been painted yellow.

  3.  NO BLOCKING of driveways or access roads of any type.

There will be a police presence for the first couple of weeks once the junior high students begin in person learning.  Warnings will be issued during this time and vehicles will be required to move.  If the problem persists, citations could be issued in the future.  We are making every effort to work with the school district and the city to provide safe and effective means of transportation for all students attending Franklin Junior High and Franklin High School.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding,

Officer Myers, S.R.O.

Have a wonderful weekend!
