Board Honors Students for Achievement

At its April 23 Board meeting, the Franklin Board of Education honored a number of students for achievement. Ben Blaha and Isaac Elam, Schenck Elementary, were honored for earning Straight As for 10 consecutive quarters. Blake Swoll, Franklin High School, was honored for earning the Congressional Award Gold Medal. Gage Johnson was honored for qualifying for the state wrestling tournament. 
 
The Franklin High School Competition Cheer Squad was honored for their OASSA state cheerleading championship, the third in four years. Those students are Karalyne Dreyer, Karli Kinser, Brianna Sizemore, Brooke Sizemore, Makayla Wills, Kaitlyn Jones, Leah Dubray, Breighton Tinch, Riley O'Connor, Taylor Hall, Katie Coffey, Kayla Gillespie, Kelsea Madden, Josie Whaley, Kendall Downs, Brandi Burns, and Summer Jones. 
 
The board also honored the FHS Girls Basketball team who were OHSAA Division II sectional and district champions. Those students are Caroline Elam, Olivia Kelly, Emma Bicknell, Layne Ferrell, Emily Newton, Skyler Weir, Kristin Earles, Madison Earles, Kaylee Harris, Karsen Quillen, Brooke Stover, Rajana Quinn, Jordan Rogers, and Kyla Williams. 
 
Franklin established the Student Achievement Award in January 2001 to honor students who have demonstrated exceptional achievement in academics, community service, or character. Hundreds of students have been honored since the award's inception.
