This publication provides information designed to assist parents and students in making important decisions regarding the planning of high school courses. Much time and effort has gone into the creation of this course guide. It is a tool providing the information needed to select your course of study for the school year. All of the courses that will be offered at Franklin High School in the 2015-2016 school year are listed, along with each course’s detailed description. We recommend that parents and students take the time to review the booklet carefully, and if needed, with a school counselor. If you have questions about specific courses, please discuss these with the appropriate teacher.
This year, we are excited to also provide an online edition that includes planning for future College & Career opportunities. This program of studies will be fully available on the Franklin City Schools website (www.franklincityschools.com).
Using this resource as a guide, we encourage our students to set their sights high. The course and academic decisions students make are critical. Your future will certainly be impacted by your course choices, and we urge students to stretch themselves with courses that will be challenging and rigorous. Hopefully, your goal as a student is to succeed in a well-rounded life that goes well beyond the four years of high school. You will someday be expected to be a contributing member of the global community, and our society needs capable, self-motivated, life-long learners who can persevere and lead us in the 21st Century!
The programs provided at Franklin High School play an important role in the educational progress of each student, and we hope that all students will reap the many benefits possible from their studies. We encourage parents and students to talk with guidance counselors, teachers, and administrators about our school’s academic programs. We promise you the support of the entire Franklin High School staff in helping to make the decisions that will best serve each student.
