Planning Process

Franklin City Schools began its Strategic Planning process in the autumn of 1998. The five year plan was adopted in November 1999. On May 21, 2003, the Strategic Planning group met again to review the district's progress against the original goals. This meeting marked the end of this planning cycle.

MISSION
The mission of the Franklin City Schools, a progressive, community-based school district, is to guarantee all students can grow, develop, and learn to their fullest potential by providing a challenging, individualized curriculum; an exemplary, compassionate staff; and a state-of-the-art, safe and supportive learning environment.

WE BELIEVE THAT

" Freedom is fundamental to a meaningful life.
" Family is the primary teacher.
" The belief in God and religious freedom is important.

PARAMETERS
" We will never employ people who do not put students first.
" We will always keep everyone informed about the strategic plan.
" We will never accept failure to graduate.
" We will always put students & families first.
" We will never compromise our mission.
" We will always embrace diversity.

OBJECTIVES
" To graduate all students.
" To have 100% passage rate on state proficiency tests at all levels.
" To have 100% of graduates employed or in post-secondary education within six months of graduation.
" To improve and maintain attendance at a level of 98% or above.
" To have 100% of our students meet the goals of their individualized education plan at the end of each year.
" To have every student involved in extra-curricular or volunteer activities.

STRATEGIES
" We will develop and implement partnerships with the community.
" We will develop and implement ways to enhance and promote the strengths and successes of the Franklin City Schools.
" We will develop and implement a plan that creates individualized educational programs for all students that will involve students, parents, educators, and the community.
" We will develop and implement personnel programs enabling all employees to be well informed and good at what they do.
" We will develop and conduct a demographic study of each Franklin graduate.
" We will develop and implement a plan to improve facilities to maximize learning

District Goals

Student Performance: The academic achievement of all students in the Franklin City School District will improve as indicated by building/district assessments, standardized tests, the State indicators and an increased number of students passing classes per grade level.

Student Social Emotional Development: The Franklin City School District will integrate activities and curriculum to promote and increase positive social emotional growth and development of students in order to increase self-esteem, attendance, academic performance, and an awareness of future life goals.

School Environment: The Franklin City School District will become a safer, more nurturing, educational environment maximizing all the resources effectively and efficiently for all students and employees.

Communications and Public Relations: The Franklin City School District will utilize a variety of conventional and newly emerging technological means to improve positive communication with all facets of the school community (faculty, staff, parents, and students) the business community, etc.

Funding: All funding sources will be sought and will be effectively and efficiently utilized to optimally support the mission, goals, and the overall operation of the district.

Supporting Practices: All practices, endeavors, activities that are planned, performed, sought after, etc. will support the achievement and social/emotional growth endeavors of the students.
